Every Michelin-star restaurant in Punjab in punjab

The honest answer: zero Michelin stars exist in Punjab as of 2026, so here are the 10 restaurants that would earn them if the guide ever landed.

The reality check

Michelin has not published a Punjab guide, and no restaurant in the state carries a star. That is not a knock on the food — it is a distribution gap. The Guide covers Mumbai and Delhi from 2024 onwards, and Punjab is simply not on the release map yet. So this ranking is my working list of star-worthy kitchens across Amritsar, Chandigarh, and Ludhiana, judged on consistency, sourcing, and technique against the same standards Michelin uses in Delhi.

The top 10, ranked

1) Kesar Da Dhaba, Amritsar — 100-year-old dal makhani, worth every rupee at $4 a head. 2) Bharawan Da Dhaba, near the Golden Temple — reference-level chole bhature. 3) Pal Dhaba, Sector 28 Chandigarh — brain curry that outperforms most Delhi fine-dining. 4) Swagath, Chandigarh — coastal food done properly. 5) Punjab Grill at JW Marriott Chandigarh — the polished version at $40 a head.

6) Crystal Restaurant, Ludhiana — old-school Punjabi since 1958. 7) Beera Chicken, Amritsar — tandoori technique. 8) Makhan Fish, Amritsar — the Amritsari fry benchmark. 9) Barbeque Nation Elante — overrated but consistent. 10) Virgin Courtyard, Chandigarh — the only serious Italian in the state.

Questions, answered

Will Michelin come to Punjab?
Unlikely before 2028. The Guide expands slowly, and Bangalore and Goa are ahead in the queue. Amritsar has the case but not the luxury hotel density Michelin favours.
Which of these needs a booking?
Pal Dhaba on weekends and Punjab Grill always. The dhabas near the Golden Temple are walk-in only and turn tables in 20 minutes.
